Summer of ’41 | Bohemian Pilsner | 5.4% ABV / 40 IBU
God bless the Czechs for perfecting the lagering methods and brewing process to create this distinct style of light, yet complex beer. God bless Pilsner! And now you are blessed with the opportunity to be the first to try our new Summer of ’41 Bohemian Pilsner. We brewed a decent-sized batch beer of this Pilsner in hopes that it will be around all summer. It will be served only in the Taproom on Barton Springs Rd.
Head brewer, Stephen Wagner brewed this Pilsner specifically for his dad. “My dad was born in the summer of ’41, and I named our first Bohemian Pilsner in his honor. He liked to drink clean, lighter-style beers that have a hint of bitterness. I wanted to brew a beer that I would be proud to serve to him, and drink pints with him. Unfortunately, he passed away this year, and this beer is dedicated to his memory.”
The Summer of ’41 is bright, pale golden and crystal clear with a fluffy white head. This gorgeous lager tickles the nose with clean, rich, malty, and spicy aromas. It has rich, smooth flavors that showcase the Bohemian Pilsner malt, with an inviting spiciness from a healthy addition of Czech Saaz hops. This is no watery wannabe Pilsner. It is medium bodied, effortlessly refreshing, and eminently quaffable. The bottom of the glass of this pils begs to be refilled.
